The number of new LEGO® titles from DK Books are set to be published across 2020. After my review of DK Books’ LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia, the second book I’m are taking a look at is LEGO NINJAGO: Choose Your Ninja Mission. The book sends readers on a twisting adventure across the lands of NINJAGO as they follow an ever-changing story. It also includes a Jay Minifigure, who joins you on your adventures. So lets take a closer look at both the book and the Minifigure, as I review the LEGO NINJAGO: Choose Your Ninja Mission book.

The Book
We all remember those Choose Your Own Adventure books we had as a kid. These allowed you to choose which path you’d like to follow then turn to the relevant pages. Which is the basis of this book but with the added fun of LEGO characters and sets. The story darts between numerous ‘eras’ of the LEGO NINJAGO universe, apart from the most recent Prime Empire storyline.
Each page includes a section of story and their branching options. These then get you to turn to a different page to continue your mission. Some pages also feature Data Files, which offer information about a particular set featured on the page and Ninja Facts, which are more focused towards story elements of the NINJAGO universe.
The Minifigure
The book includes a Jay Minifigure, this is not an exclusive character to the book and in fact, it’s been available in a couple of sets as well as being included on the LEGO NINJAGO magazine. This is Jay’s Legacy outfit, so it calls back to the past LEGO NINJAGO sets but uses the newer style elements for the outfit. It’s always nice to have a Minifigure included with a book, it’s just a shame that it’s such a generic one.
Overall
These sort of LEGO books are aimed at younger builders, who will be delighted in heading off on their own NINJAGO adventures. It’s a shame the Minifigure isn’t exclusive but it’s nice to have another chance to add it to your collection, should you need to.
