Galaxy’s Biggest Stormtrooper Army Gathers In Chicago

As Star Wars Celebration Chicago kicks off, The LEGO Group have been assembling the largest ever LEGO® Stormtrooper Minifigure Army at the event. The hope has been to break a Guinness Book World Record. This incredible army of 1 ½ inch tall Stormtrooper minifigures is unlike anything seen before and together there are 36,440 Minifigures in the miniature army, which has amassed inside McCormick Place in Chicago. The army is assembled in the shape of the iconic stormtrooper helmet, the 20 feet tall by 20 feet wide model took 12 people 38 hours to create and install. The record breaking grand army of the Galactic Empire is the first of a number of LEGO Star Wars events and announcements occurring during Star Wars Celebration. Continuing the festivities, the LEGO Group will relive this collaboration and share some of what’s to come in a panel at Star Wars Celebration titled, “20 years of the LEGO Star Wars Story – A Retrospective and Forward Look,” on Friday, April 12 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. CT.
