To celebrate Video Games Day we though we take a look at some fun LEGO Games facts. Since the very first LEGO video game launched in 1995 right up until today, LEGO and video games have had long history. Many feared the rise of digital entertainment would put an end the physical brick, instead LEGO embraced the world of gaming and have produced a number of the best selling family friendly gaming experiences. Currently gamers can delve into the LEGO Multiverse with LEGO Dimensions, and later this year get ready to be more ninja with The LEGO NINJAGO Movie Video Game and travel through time in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2.   • The very first LEGO video game ever released was LEGO Fun To Build for the super obscure SEGA Pico console way back in 1995.

  • The first Multi-platform LEGO video game released was LEGO Racers which appeared on several platforms including N64, PlayStation and Game Boy.
  • In 2005 TT Games produced their first LEGO title – LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game, since then they have developed almost 30 LEGO Games for various platforms.
  • In 2008 LEGO Batman: The Video Game was the first licensed LEGO game to be based on an original storyline instead of a movie plot.
  • The first Minifigure based on a game to be released was the Infomaniac from the LEGO Islands game.

  • The LEGO Movie Video Game is the first LEGO video game to feature environments made completely from LEGO elements. The same technology helped to create LEGO Worlds and the upcoming The LEGO NINJAGO Movie Video Game.
  • In 2010 LEGO Universe became the first LEGO multiplayer game. The game still has a dedicated fan base today.
  • In 2012 LEGO Minifigures gained a voice with an original voice cast used for LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes and audio from the movies used to voice the characters in LEGO Lord of the Rings.
  • LEGO Games were one of the key factors in getting The LEGO Movie greenlight by both LEGO and Warner Bros. Pictures in turn the success of The LEGO Movie inspired the creation of LEGO Dimensions
