The latest trend in promotional LEGO® sets are collectables. After the Houses of the World sets from last year and the ‘Shops’ range, LEGO Insiders is currently offering mini recreations of the much-loved NINJAGO City sets. These modular builds began with the NINJAGO City set, released alongside The LEGO NINJAGO Movie and was so popular, that it spawned three additional sets. Each of those sets has been shrunken down into cool little microscale sets. The second of the sets, NINJAGO Docks, is now available and here’s a closer look at the set.

NINJAGO City remains one of my favourite sets and together the four NINJAGO City sets showcase the pinnacle of the long-running theme. Although quite different to the NINJAGO City modular, the Docks offered an equal level of detail. Many of these can instantly be found even on a smaller scale. The dock area is particularly nice, especially as it sits over the water below. Taking a large, highly detailed set and replicating it in microscale is no easy task. But once again, it’s been achieved with an impressive degree of success.
Just like the larger NINJAGO City sets, their microscale counterparts are designed to be connected to each other. The modular nature of the sets will grow as each additional set is released. The NINJAGO City Gardens and Markets will also become mini replicas at a later date. Here’s what the NINJAGO City and Docks sets look like together.
