Another collection of unique LEGO® Minifigures has started to appear in stores. These now include a fun selection of unique elements and themed characters. Often referred to as BAMs, the latest Build a Minifigure offerings include seven characters. These aren’t really themed around anything, but do include some wintry outfits and two Day of the Dead minifigures. Here’s a closer look at the seven new minifigures, now starting to appear in LEGO Stores. Updated to include ‘official’ character names.

Day of the Dead La Catrina & La Catrine

Day of the Dead is a vibrant celebration of lost loved ones, which occurs just after Halloween. But despite the ‘spooky’ connections, they are completely different events. These two minifigures are crafted from almost entirely uniquely printed pieces, including their torsos, legs and head. La Catrina uses the swept hair piece, which debuted in the VIDIYO sets. La Catrine has a white guitar accessory and a blank version of the Mariachi hat.

Nature Scout, Pink Snowboarder & Arctic Explorer

These three minifigures are quite generic, but they do include some unique torsos. The best is the Nature Scout, which includes badges and a neckerchief; it’s generic enough to cover the many different types of scouts. The Pink Snowboarder’s outfit might be plain, but the recoloured hat perfectly suits the extreme sports look. The Arctic Explorer wouldn’t look out of place in the various exploration-themed City sets. I like the hat element, and his torso is nicely detailed, although it’s a shame it doesn’t include a backpack element.

Space Dreamer & Avid Gamer

The Space Dreamer is one of my favourites of the new BAM characters. He’s sporting a familiar-looking torso, but its design is expanded onto the legs to create classic-themed pyjamas. The sleep theme is also found on the character’s head, which includes a sleep mask expression. Its hairpiece is a recoloured version of Mateo’s from the DREAMZzz sets. The Avid Gamer is the most generic of all the BAM characters. The combination of the headphones and a controller accessory is the only real marker that the character enjoys gaming.

A big thanks once again to Robin for grabbing these for me. They aren’t the only new BAM characters to be found in stores; another collection of unique Halloween-themed characters can also be picked up in stores now.
