LEGO Yellow House Unveiled At Van Gogh Museum

To celebrate the launch of the LEGO® Art Vincent van Gogh – Sunflowers set, the LEGO Group has created a large-scale installation based on ‘The Yellow House’. This explores the various phases Vincent van Gogh experienced during his time there. The structure consists of five rooms and is built using 182.109 LEGO bricks. The installation is now on show at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. In addition, the museum is also running LEGO workshops over the Summer, and if you purchase the new Sunflower LEGO Art set from the Van Gogh Museum, you’ll also receive an exclusive LEGO Art Print.

Unique structure made from 182,109 LEGO bricks tells the story behind Van Gogh’s iconic Sunflowers.

Last night, the Yellow House made of LEGO bricks was officially unveiled at the Van Gogh Museum, an impressive installation that tells the story behind Vincent van Gogh’s famous sunflower paintings.

The unveiling took place during an exclusive event celebrating the continued collaboration between the LEGO Group and the Van Gogh Museum.

The five-room structure, built from 182,109 LEGO bricks, brings to life the place where Vincent van Gogh created his iconic sunflower paintings. The installation takes visitors through Vincent’s artistic journey in Arles, from his first inspiration in the colourful gardens to his friendship with Paul Gauguin.

‘This installation is a new highlight in our collaboration with the LEGO Group,’ says Rob Groot, Managing Director of the Van Gogh Museum. ‘It offers a unique way to experience the stories behind Van Gogh’s masterpieces and connects art with the creativity of LEGO bricks in a very accessible way.’

The five rooms of the Yellow House each tell part of the story: from Vincent’s search for inspiration to his reputation as a master of colour and form.

Creative workshops this summer

In addition to the permanent installation, the Van Gogh Museum is offering two special workshops this summer that build on the collaboration with the LEGO Group.

The Say it with Flowers workshop invites visitors to explore the symbolism of flowers from different cultures and build their own bouquet, inspired by the meaning behind Van Gogh’s flower paintings.

The Building and Chatting workshop is a workshop where visitors build LEGO sets while using conversation cards to have special conversations about art, creativity and connection.

The Yellow House in LEGO bricks can be admired at the Van Gogh Museum until September 28, 2025, after which the installation will move on to LEGO® House in Billund and LEGO® World in Utrecht.
