Star Wars Celebration Japan Day One Reveals

Star Wars Celebration is currently taking place in Japan, and the first day has given us news about the future of Star Wars. With Star Wars inspiring such a large number of LEGO® products, it’s safe to assume these reveals will inspire possible future LEGO sets. The three main announcements, which companion LEGO Star Wars sets will most likely support, include a new big-screen Star Wars story called Star Wars: Starfighter. This standalone film will see Ryan Gosling join the Star Wars galaxy in a new film directed by Wolverine & Deadpool director, Shawn Levy. This will be released in 2027.

Before that, the previously announced Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. The film now has a release date on May 22nd, 2026. It will continue the stories told in the Disney+ series and include characters from Rebel, AT-ATs, Snowtroopers and a brand new character played by Sigourney Weaver.

Next up is a brand new animated Star Wars adventure. Following the conclusion of The Clone Wars, Rebels and Resistance animated series, the latest will focus on Darth Maul. All that is known is that the series will take place after the Clone Wars. Where Maul plots to rebuild his criminal syndicate, which suggests it could continue the tease from Solo: A Star Wars Story.
