Like many of the ships from the Prequel Era Star Wars films and series, they are often the predecessors of similar ships featured in the original three Star Wars films. One such ship is the Acclamator-Class Assault Ship, which the Galactic Republic used during the Clone Wars. The enormous transport ship makes its LEGO® debut as part of the Starship Collection and joins the Home One Starcruiser, as another set which is a LEGO Star Wars first. Here’s a look at the recently released, Acclamator-Class Assault Ship

The Acclamator-Class Assault Ship debuted in the 2002 video game, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, which acted as a prequel to Attack of the Clones. It would be a few months later before it appeared on the big screen in Episode II. The huge ships were used to transport ships to the front lines and played a key role in the Battle of Geonosis. The ship has a similar appearance to a Star Destroyer.
The ship’s angular hull is achieved by two large wings which are connected to the central section of the ship. A couple of Technic rods connects the top plates. These feature various printed elements to show some of the ship’s additional details. The dark red sections are what sets the ship apart from the later Star Destroyers. The underside of the ship is mostly built up by angular bricks, but two hinged panels can be lowered to show a garrison of ‘Stormtroopers’. I do like these fun Easter Eggs hidden within these Starship Collection ships.
Once the ship is built, it can be displayed on a black stand, matching the previous sets’ style. As mentioned in my review of the Home One set, it oddly lacks the 1×2 grille on the printed display plaque. It’s easy enough to add one but the lack of the piece in the set means it lacks a small level of consistency across the Starship Collection range.
This ship resembles the better-known Star Destroyers, so the smaller scale of the Starship Collection is a much more suitable medium for this lesser-known ship. The Star Wars universe is filled with different ships and vehicles, but not all of them warrant a UCS or playset version. The LEGO Star Wars Starship Collection Acclamator-Class Assault Ship set is available now.
