You Ain’t Never Seen A Minifigure Move Like This

GameHut has been the source of some interesting behind-the-scenes nuggets of information from the world of LEGO Games. Former TT Games head Jon Burton shares another interesting insight into the development of past LEGO Games. TT Games hand animate all the characters and cutscenes found in various LEGO Games including Star Wars. As this is a time consuming process, they experimented with using motion capture to animated in-game Minifigures. The result is a unique style of movement for Minifigures, not seen before. Actors movements were used to bring Minifigure versions of Han and Leia to ‘life’, thankfully the experiment didn’t really work and characters were and continue to be animated by the skilled artists at TT Games. LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga will continue the LEGO Games legacy when it arrives early next year.
