It’s not often a screensaver becomes so legendary, but that’s certainly happened to Roku TV’s ‘Roku City’ screensaver. For those unaware of the draw of Roku City, it’s a purple-hazed cityscape, which is used on Roku TV devices as a screensaver. It began as a playful jaunt through a city street filled with vague movie references. In the years since it has become a means of delivering advertising with brands such as Paramount+ and Mcdonald’s appearing in Roku City, the LEGO Group can now be added to this list. A playful exchange between Roku and the LEGO Group on the social media platform that shall not be named, has seen Roku City ‘rebuilt’ to include characters from the current ‘Play is your Superpower’ ad campaign. They should start to appear on Roku devices very soon, where I’m sure there will be more LEGO-themed Easter Eggs to discover.
