LEGO House Gains SXSW Innovation Award

The LEGO® House has gained a surprising award at a US festival currently running in Austin, Texas. South By Southwest or SXSW is an annual conglomerate of film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences which has been running since 1987. This year the LEGO House was represented at the event with a traveling version of their interactive aquarium, the Fish Designer. This Yellow Zone activity allows visitors to the LEGO House, to build a fish or sea dwelling creature from physical LEGO bricks, before scanning it into a huge digital underwater scene, where it comes to life and interacts with other digital builds. Visitors can even take their digital creations home in a RFID wristband. Last night at the SXSW Interactive Innovation Awards, this unique experience picked up the Visual Media Experience award. This honours “content creation and delivery that moves beyond passive viewership by providing a more immersive and engaging entertainment experience” The Fish Designer experience is a joint venture with Trigger Global, who have previous worked with the LEGO Group on the Mosaic Maker, Creator App, In-Store AR app and the Ultra Agents app. You can experience the LEGO Fish Designer for yourself at the LEGO House now.
