Klutz are set to publish a new STEM-focused LEGO® book later this year, called LEGO Gear Bots. The book will combine LEGO elements and papercraft sections to build simple kinetic models. Klutz have published a number of educational LEGO books over the years, but this is the first to incorporate papercraft elements. Combining the 64 LEGO elements with the 10 sheets of papercraft pieces will allow you to build up to 8 different models. LEGO Gear Bots will be published in August. Check out the cover and buildable models below.
Build STEM-driven models, such as DJ Bubbles (an octopus spinning records), a pterodactyl, a yeti, and much more! Kinetic sculptures, or automata, are mechanically engineering toys that move when you crank the handle on the side. They move through a series of axles, cams, and cranks that work like the pistons in an engine. Each model includes a papercraft character that you fold and link with LEGO elements.
Comes with: 64-page book of ideas and inspiration, 62 LEGO® elements, 10 sheets of papercraft.
