As you’ll probably already know by now, this weekend marks the 60th Anniversary of the LEGO® brick. There’ll be a number of celebrations across the world, however one of the most unique is located right here in the UK. An independent store in Rushden, Nortants has transformed their store front into one big LEGO celebration. For this weekend only, Osborne’s Toys Shop has been given a LEGO makeover, with the entire store front being built from LEGO bricks and vintage LEGO sets on display in the windows. The store’s owner Will along with his Mum, Pam, who founded the store with her husband in 1955, were joined by the Marina Edwards, VP of LEGO UK & Ireland to unveil this unique celebration of the LEGO brick. Osborne’s were one of the first UK stores to stock LEGO products, making them the LEGO Group’s oldest UK customer. Will Osborne adds
“To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the creation of the LEGO® brick, we are delighted to announce a special event happening at our shop on Friday January 26th (through to Monday morning January 29th). LEGO® and Osborne’s Sports & Toys are going to combine in a way you’ve never seen before. It should be quite a sight! Osborne’s was chosen for this honour by being the first shop in the UK to open an account with LEGO and we still stock LEGO today. So come and visit and see what the humble LEGO brick can do!”
There’s a few images below, but we highly recommend you pop along to Osborne’s this weekend or Monday before the display is removed after close, to marvel at this incredible sight. Learn more about the store here. Thanks to Jerry and Tim for the images.
