The LEGO Group and The Walt Disney Company have a pretty long and fruitful relationship. Even before plastic bricks were a mere twinkle in Ole Kirk Christiansen’s eye, Disney properties have long inspired LEGO® products. Now they make up a pretty substantial array of sets, and with Disney owning the likes of Pixar, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Marvel and all the new Fox properties, its newly updated release schedule could hint towards possible future LEGO releases. It’s safe to assume we’ll continue to get LEGO sets based on evergreen themes like Star Wars, Disney Animation and Pixar films. Plus the Marvel line-up has now expanded with all the previously Fox-owned characters. Indiana Jones is making a comeback and often movie releases inspire sets, without being directly based on them; in particular many of the Disney sets, such as the recent Aladdin set. But could some of the Fox releases now become new LEGO themes? Avatar is a ideal candidate, especially since it will now be a major Christmas release between newly announced Star Wars movies. Here’s the Walt Disney Studios release line-up for the next few years, which could inspire upcoming LEGO releases.
