As many of us will have now taken down our decorations, it’s time to look towards Christmas 2022. A few weeks ago I shared my Christmas LEGO display and this year I decided to illuminate it thanks to a light kit from Lightalling/Bricksmax. They kindly provided the kit for free and the kit I was sent was for the LEGO Ideas Home Alone set.
LEGO Light kits can be tricky to install but this one has a couple of things to make the process far easier to do. The box contains a couple of instruction booklets, which show clear step-by-step images of how to add the lights to the set. Each of the different lighting elements or wires are clearly marked in its own individual packet. So you can easily follow which pieces go where using the instruction booklets. But my absolute favourite part of the kit is a pair of tweezers, which really helps you place wires, making the installation so much easier.
The lights themselves are extremely bright, in fact, surprisingly so. Some of the kits from others are a little muted in terms of their brightness but not this one. They really help to bring the Home Alone house to life and help Kevin confuse the Wet Bandits. And if course for a set closely associated with Christmas, the light certainly help give it a festive feel.
As previously mentioned, after trying them in the Home Alone set, I repurposed the kit to illuminate my Christmas display and it works just as well for that. Obviously, I added a couple of extra lights but most seen in my display were from this kit. There are two versions of the Home Alone Lighting Kit available from Lightailing, the one featured here is the Bricksmax version. This feature more lights as well as multi-coloured lights trails.
Christmas is over and the Home Alone set is still hard to find but there are plenty of other lighting kits available for other LEGO sets. You can check out the full range here. Thanks to Lightailing for providing the kit to take a look at.

We are installing the light set for the second floor and when we attach it to the first floor, all of the lights go out- suggestions?

Possibly a mistake in how they are connected or a faulty connector. I would suggest contacting the maker of the kit
