Black Widow & Captain America Motorcycles Review

Despite the last Avengers film hitting cinemas back in 2019, the films which form part of the Infinity Saga are still inspiring LEGO® Marvel sets today. The latest is loosely based on moments from Age of Ultron, where both Captain America and Black Widow use motorcycles to fight the good fight and do general avenging. Admittedly, this feels like a slightly random set, as it’s not being released alongside a larger wave of sets. But as random as it is, what exactly does it have to offer? Here’s a closer look at the Black Widow & Captain America Motorcycles set.

The moment from the film which has inspired this set has previously been covered in other sets. One simply use a standard motorbike element, whilst another featured a brick-built bike, but a fairly simple one as it was 4+ set. This set features two bikes and they are both brick built. This makes them much chunkier than usual LEGO bikes and rather different to what was actually featured in Age of Ultron. The overall bike of each bike is fairly similar, with Cap’s bike being blue and Nat’s being black, basically mirroring each character’s costume colours. Slight differences between the two are Cap’s bike as saddle bags and the ability to mount the shield on the front of the bike, whilst Nat’s has her power batons mounted on the back of the bike.

The minifigures aren’t really a reason to pick up the set. The same Captain America minifigure was included in the 2021 LEGO 4+ set, which also featured a motorcycle. One difference is the ability to swap Cap’s head covering with hair. Black Widow is unique with a slight variant of her usual black catsuit. A similar suit did feature a flash of skin near the neck, which was washed out due to a lighter colour being printed on a dark surface. This version thankfully ditches that. Both bikes also sport a pair of stud shooters, which add an element of play even if it bulks the bikes out even more.

Overall

It still feels like a slightly random set to be released. Almost as if it was designed alongside other sets and someone popped them in a cupboard and forgot about them. Until stumbling upon them and then deciding to release them. They also feel as if they should have been part of a bigger set, but at least with this being such a small set, it has an attainable price point. Perfect should you wish to add both characters to your collection or for younger fans to buy with their own money.
