Behind The Scenes LEGO Silverado Big Build

A behind the scenes video has been released for the life-sized LEGO® Big Build of the Chevrolet Silverado. Although the build is impressive enough, what’s most intersting about the video is the process LEGO model builders go through to create the builds and what happens to them once finished. Many of these builds end up outside during events or at LEGOLAND parks, to the have to be protected somehow and this video shows just that. The LEGO® Silverado model is 72 inches (6 feet) high, 240 inches (20 feet) long and 96 inches (8 feet) wide and weights 3,307 pounds. The final build contains 334,544 LEGO pieces, with the most common LEGO element used being the red 2×8 stud brick. It took 18 builders more than 2,000 hours to assemble at the LEGO Group’s Model Shop in Enfield, Connecticut.

If you’ve seen The LEGO Movie 2, you may have noticed a Minifigure scale Silverado appears on screen for a few seconds. This version is a little different to the one built to the life-sized scale. The smaller version appears in the TV ad, which features Emmet and Lucy trying to escape Sweet Mayhem.
