Add Power To Your LEGO Play With Powered Up

Connected play is nothing new to the world of LEGO®, in recent years we’ve had Power Functions, App Bricks and LEGO Boost, but the ability to interact with LEGO in unique new ways is about to advance in a big way. This month two new LEGO DUPLO sets were released which included special ‘Action Bricks’. These NFC maker elements trigger certain actions within each set, such as sounding a horn, changing the trains direction or switching on lights. These are complimented by a companion app, which opens up even more play possibilities. But it’s not just the younger builders who will get to enjoy a new powered play experience. Next month the first Powered Up sets arrive in the form of two LEGO City trains. Power Functions have been a part of the LEGO System for many years, but have been limited by technology. The new Power Functions system, officially known as ‘Powered Up’ introduces new technology, which opens up the interactive possibilities of LEGO play. Powered Up replaces the ageing IR connection with Bluetooth. This offers a much smoother way to control sets and also allows the addition of a new app. Like the DUPLO Action Bricks App, the Powered Up app offers additional sounds and control options. The app will be updated when new sets are released. Both apps are available now from both Google Play and the App Store.

LEGO DUPLO Action Bricks

All aboard the DUPLO Train! Join the train driver on an adorable adventure through rolling hills and green pastures. Help the driver by controlling the train’s speed, turning on the headlights, sounding the horn and more! Together, meet new friends like the boat captain, the little girl and the seagull. Play with the driver, tickle him or feed him if he gets hungry!

Place DUPLO Action Bricks on the rails to make the driver react to your actions. Each Action Brick can also launch an exciting activity that bridges the gap between the physical and digital worlds: stack crates onto the train with the boat driver, repair the train’s headlights using colored lightbulbs, help the driver wash the mud off the train or play hide and seek with your squirrel friend! There is a total of 7 exciting activities to discover.
