A Look At LEGO…. Unikitty

It’s International Unicorn Day (yes really) so what better reason do we have to take A Look At LEGO…. Unikitty. When The LEGO Movie was released back in 2014, it was filled with plenty of wonderful characters, but there was one who managed to capture the hearts of adults and kids alike. Hailing from Cloud Cuckoo Land, the capital of rainbows and puppies, Princess Unikitty the half unicorn, half anime kitten was more than happy to join her fellow LEGO Master Builders in the quest to defeat Lord Business, but she also hid a powerful secret. Hidden deep behind that cheery smile is a number of other personalities just waiting to get out. All of which could be found in a number of The LEGO Movie playsets.

Unikitty is an entirely brick built character, which also introduced two brand new LEGO pieces, the conical horn and the tail element. She has become somewhat of a collectors piece with fans trying to complete the set, which wasn’t easy as Unikitty and her variants appeared across 7 different sets as well as an elusive SDCC edition. But when you’re as colourful and sparkly as Unikitty, you can’t be contained in just one theme. During the first year of LEGO Dimensions, Unikitty appeared in her very own Fun Pack and later this year, she’ll be back again and this time she’s brought some friends along. Unikitty is currently starring in her own animated TV series on Cartoon Network and we’ll return in LEGO form in a number of playsets and a collectible character series. So turn those frowns upside down and let’s take A Look At LEGO…. Unikitty!

Found in set 70803 Could Cuckoo Palace

The ‘normal’ Unikitty is made up of 14 elements including those 2 new elements introduced with the character and a printed 1×3 brick, many of the other elements used are uniquely coloured for Unikitty. She also makes great use of the new conical horn element and the tailpiece, which made a surprising appearance in the Detective Agency set.

Found in set 70809 Lord Business’ Evil Lair

BiznisKitty is the disguise used by Unikitty to infiltrate the Octan Tower and thwart Lord Business’s plan to release the Kragel. BiznisKitty has the same build as Unikitty but features a differently printed head piece and has print detail on the body section.

Found in set 70810 MetalBeard’s Sea Cow

As Cloud Cuckoo Land falls Emmet and the gang seek refuge on the Double Decker Couch, but the rough seas take their toll on Unikitty who becomes a little queasy. So her pink and pastel elements are changed to mainly olive green pieces. Queasy Kitty also has a different facial expression and the two new elements used are uniquely coloured.

Found in set 70814 Emmet’s Construct-o-mech

With Brickburg on its last legs, Unikitty’s hopes of staying positive, rapidly decline and her angry side is unleashed. This Unikitty variant features mainly bright and dark red pieces, a menacing face piece and flamed body section.

Found in set 70816 Benny’s Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!

As much as Unikitty likes to be unique, she can’t resist donning a costume and getting involved, Benny’s love of space is pretty infectious. Astro Kitty’s look is inspired by classic space right down to golden horn and Space logo printed on the body piece.

Found in set 70817 Batman & Super Angry Kitty Attack

Angry Kitty is tame compared to Super Angry Kitty, who joins the gang with the new 2015 The LEGO Movie sets. The basic elements and build are the same as Angry Kitty but the face print is ever so much angrier.

Found in set 70818 Double Decker Couch

Faced with watching her home burn and fall to the bottom of the sea, Unikitty’s sunny disposition starts to slip and she takes a moment to gather her thoughts. This version of Unikitty features a different style of build to all other versions. Giving her a sitting pose, she also comes with 2 different face pieces showing her both bewildered and upset. There’s even two 1×3 pink pieces that have eyebrow print detail.

Given away at San Diego Comic Con 2013

The most elusive of the Unikitty variants as it was only available to random visitors who attended SDCC in 2014, as with Sitting Kitty this special Unikitty features 2 different face elements showing Unikitty’s cutesy and cheery sides.

Found in LEGO Dimensions Fun Pack 71231

In the second wave of LEGO Dimensions packs, Unikitty was introduced to the game in her own Fun Pack. Not only did this contain a new version of Unikitty complete with Toy Tag, it also includes a brick-built cloud car. Placing either of them on the LEGO Toy Pad, unlocked their digital forms within the game. Unikitty gave you access to a LEGO Movie themed Adventure World and also had a unique Rainbow Brick smash ability.

Currently being shown on Cartoon Network

After the fall of Cloud Cuckoo Land, Unikitty set up home in the Unikingdom, where she is joined by a gang of her equally colourful friends. All of whom are the subject of a brand new animated series on Cartoon Network. The show will also be the inspiration for a new LEGO theme later this year, which will include playsets and a series of collectible characters.

It’s not just the humans who are fans of Unikitty, one colourful character from The LEGO NINJAGO Movie minifigure series, really let the world know how much she love Unikitty with her funky t-shirt.
