A Look At LEGO… The Beatles

Way back in the 1960s, four young musicians came together and changed the face of music. Today marks a very special moment in the band’s long history as The Beatles released what is being dubbed their final song. The story behind this new track called Now and Then stretches all the way back to the 1970s when the late John Lennon was playing around with a song. In the mid-90s the recording was given to the three remaining members of the band, who hoped to release it as a song. But it wasn’t until Peter Jackson helped create the technology to separate audio, which was used during the Disney+ documentary, Get Back. Although only two members of The Beatles remain, all four members of the band appear on the new track. It’s a special moment for music and even more so for fans of The Beatles. In fact, the interest in The Beatles is so strong, that they even inspired a couple of LEGO sets.

Back in 2016, LEGO Ideas released a set inspired by The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine song and animated film. The set’s existence is thanks to fan designer ‘kevinszeto’, who created the original project which inspired the set. Fans could recreate the iconic yellowed coloured sub which also included minifigures of all four band members, plus a unique figure of Jeremy. The colourful set had some great printed elements and unique torsos which haven’t appeared beyond the set.

Four years later, the Fab Four were immortalised in LEGO form once more thanks to the LEGO Art theme. This unique display LEGO theme used a number of LEGO dot elements to create images which could be hung on a wall. The set allowed you to build each of The Beatles or you could combine four sets to create the entire band. There was also a companion podcast, which detailed how the set came to be. You can learn more about how the Beatles LEGO Art set was created here.

  1. I’ve just ordered the parts from BrickLink to build a John Lennon Brickheadz.

I listen to The Beatles music everyday, even if it’s just a single song!
