Hot off the success of The LEGO® Movie, WB Animation looked set to expand the franchise with sequels and spin-offs. These all saw the light of day in the form of The LEGO Batman Movie, The LEGO NINJAGO Movie and of course the Second Part of The LEGO Movie. But another spin-off dubbed ‘The Billion Brick Race – A LEGO Movie’ ultimately got stuck in development before Warner Bros. and the LEGO Group parted ways on their big-screen endeavours. The Billion Brick Race was at one point this was being worked on by The Book of Life director Jorge R. Gutierrez. Early last year he shared some character concept art and has followed that up with a peek at the visual concept board and more character concepts by Sylvain Deboissy. These show more takes on some of the characters who would star in the animated LEGO spin-off. From both these and the concept art from what the movie was aiming for, seems like we may have missed out on a rather exciting LEGO adventure.
