Abandoned LEGO Billion Brick Race Art Surfaces

With the partnership between the LEGO Group and Warner Bros. Pictures at an end, various snippets of information about projects in the pipeline are starting to emerge. Soon after the success of The LEGO® Movie, Warner went big on additional LEGO projects, a sequel to the first movie was announced along with the resurrection of a long mooted NINJAGO movie, a LEGO Batman spin-off and another spin-off dubbed ‘The Billion Brick Race – A LEGO Movie Film’. At one point this was being worked on by The Book of Life director Jorge R. Gutierrez. He has taken to Twitter to share a neat piece of concept art from the movie, which he describes as  “a racing film about race, privilege and gentrification with references to all my favorite 80s and 90s cop and action movies” The concept character art so seven Minifigures, including a wheelchair bound character and a cool looking wrestler/stunt guy, made from the same chunkier body as Axl from NEXO KNIGHTS sets. The Billion Brick Race will never see the light of day but the concept is a nice insight into what could have been. It’s been reported that the LEGO Group are now looking to partner with a new studio to continue big screen outings for their characters nad products, with Universal Picture showing interest.
