The LEGO Group has teamed up with It’s That Nice again for another LEGO® installation event. Following on from last year’s LEGO Piece Garden, the latest LEGO experience is called LEGO Inner Piece and allows visitors to find the creativity within and get hands-on with some of the LEGO sets aimed at adults. There will also be a couple of workshops to attend during the Inner Piece experience. LEGO Inner Piece opens on October 7th and runs until October 10th, it will be located on Eastcastle Street, London. Learn more below.
Find your Inner Piece at It’s Nice That and The LEGO Group’s new London experience
Bring your happy place to life, contribute to a communal landscape garden and explore the LEGO Adults Welcome range in a serene new pop-up installation.
It’s Nice That and the LEGO® Group have once again joined forces to champion creativity and play. Following the success and popularity of our partnership last year, which saw thousands of Londoners step into The LEGO® Piece Garden installation, we have returned with an equally exciting experiential event, Inner Piece – a tranquil, communal pop-up space where you can build your happy place. The event will once again give visitors a chance to get hands-on with the LEGO Botanical Collection of floral creations, but this time there will also be a space dedicated to further collections from the LEGO Adults Welcome range, promising something for everyone.
Inner Piece opens for a week on October 7th and will be hosted at 37 Eastcastle Street in London, just a short walk from Oxford Circus tube station (see full details at the end of this article). Inside, visitors will be greeted by a dazzling LEGO landscape artwork that has been created in collaboration with the wonderfully talented Spanish illustrator María Medem. They will also have the chance to unleash their own inner artist in two different creative workshops, as well as browse a broad range of LEGO collections.
For those looking to roll their sleeves up and get hands-on, there will be two workshops to choose from. The first option is a Meditative Flower Making workshop, which will be led by experienced LEGO guides and will see visitors use the LEGO Botanical range to design and build their own beautiful flowers and plants. Once finished, the personalised blossoms will be collected and added to the centrepiece of the entire event: the Happy Place Dreamscape. Created by María, this large-scale artwork will be the ultimate embodiment of happiness and tranquillity, drawing inspiration from the artist’s own happy place and providing a point of connection for others. In front of the captivating artwork will be a communal flower bed, in which the flowers from the workshop will be planted, resulting in a colourful, collaborative garden.
The second option will be the Happy Prints workshop, which has been designed and developed by everyone’s favourite Brighton-based illustrator and printmaker, Laurie Avon, who is known for his mastery of printing techniques and his playful style. Attendees will be guided through a printing session in which they will be asked to imagine their own Happy Place. Starting with a blank worksheet, some instructions and a prompt card, they will be taken through the process step by step by an instructor and assistants, first creating their design on the baseplate before printing it using ink. Each attendee will have the chance to hang one final print up in the space, to inspire the next group of participants, and will be able to take another print home with them.
Finally, there will be an area of the installation dedicated to a selection of LEGO collections, all representing different passions and hobbies – whether that be space exploration, luxury cars or architecture. After all, so many of us find we are truly at our happiest when we’re able to spend time engaging with our passions and interests. These collections will be set in front of three further artworks created by María, with her minimalist compositions and vibrant colour palettes complementing the LEGO creations.
Inner Piece from It’s Nice That and The LEGO Group will be open at 37 Eastcastle St, London W1W 8DR, from 7 to 13 October and from 11am to 9pm each day.
