This evening LEGO UK and It’s That Nice revealed the LEGO® Piece Garden – an immersive experience at this year’s London Design Festival. Over the next couple of weeks, visitors can enjoy a moment of focus as they build beautiful LEGO bouquets whilst chatting to the artists in residence who will be creating live art in the space. This means that the interior of the LEGO Piece Garden will evolve and grow day by day. The LEGO Piece Garden opens to the public tomorrow.
BRICKS IN BLOOM! THE LEGO® PIECE GARDEN BURSTS INTO LIFE THIS LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL
Today, the doors to the LEGO® Piece Garden, located in the heart of London’s Shoreditch, opened to the public. A place to unearth creativity and get hands on with the latest LEGO® Botanicals and LEGO® Art ranges, the immersive experience is part of the 2023 London Design festival, with both open from 16th – 24th September.
Launched in collaboration with media platform It’s Nice That, the space is designed to help nurture creativity, and inspire calm and peace. Visitors can enjoy a moment of focus as they build the LEGO® Icons Wildflower Bouquet, the LEGO® Flower Bouquet, LEGO® Icons Tranquil Garden or LEGO® Bonsai Tree, as well as chat to the artists in residence who will be spending time at the LEGO Piece garden during opening times, creating live art in the space. This means that the interior of the LEGO® Piece Garden will evolve and grow day by day.
Charlotte Mei, an illustrator and artist whose work is nature-filled, calming and joyful, said of the immersive experience: “It can sometimes be hard to find moments for ourselves, or to slow down to take in our surroundings when life gets fast paced and busy. For me, immersing myself in my art projects allows me the space and time I need to be still, calm, and gather my thoughts. The LEGO Piece Garden, located in such a bustling area, offers passers by a moment of still – a place to step inside, slow down, and really engage in the creative and building activities on offer – and with me as I live-build!”
London-based creative Alec Doherty, known for his bright, colourful and playful work said, “LEGO building is for all ages, and I’m excited to be creating my own LEGO brick art installation live while the LEGO® Piece Garden is open. I think people will be really surprised by the range of LEGO Botanicals and Art products on offer – you can visit to build a Bonsai Tree, or a Flower Bouquet, to name a few, and every product that a visitor builds will be added to a ‘living’ wall in the space, so essentially The LEGO® Piece Garden is blossoming community garden.”
Open from 16th – 24th September, The LEGO® Piece Garden is free to enter and open to all. Passers by are encouraged to step inside and get involved in everything on offer. Now fully booked, there are two artist workshops taking place where attendees can build a custom flower using the LEGO Wildflower Bouquet, before creating artworks inspired LEGO creations, via the medium of paint, collage, or drawing. These workshops are taking place at 4pm on Saturday 16th September with Alec Doherty, and at 7pm on Thursday 21st September with Charlotte Mei.
