BrickCon 2022 is Back In-Person and Online with Keynote from Pixar Director and LEGO Builder Angus MacLane
Washington’s original LEGO fan convention returns to the Seattle Center from September 29th to October 2nd with registrations available now
SEATTLE, July, 2022: BrickCon 2022 is coming back to the Seattle Center this fall. Washington’s original LEGO fan convention and public exhibition will be held Sept. 29 – Oct. 2 and will offer adult builders a chance to display their LEGO creations, win prizes and awards, participate in workshops, shop from vendors, and more. BrickCon is also the only LEGO convention to offer a simultaneous online experience for international builders and other LEGO fans who can’t travel.
Additionally, BrickCon 2022 welcomes Pixar director (and LEGO superfan) Angus MacLane as its keynote speaker this year. MacLane directed Pixar’s Lightyear where he used LEGO as a storytelling tool to help craft the development of the film. He also is the fan designer behind the popular LEGO Ideas Wall-E set.
“This year should be a great exhibition for BrickCon. It’s our 21st show, so I guess we’ve finally come of age—which is something to be said for the longest-running fan-organized LEGO convention. Our theme for the year is ‘21, Time for Fun!’” said Steven Walker, Director of BrickCon. “We are also excited to continue offering a fully hybrid event both in-person and online to make BrickCon as inclusive and accessible as possible.”
To help encourage distancing, physical attendee registration is limited to 500 participants and public tickets will be both timed and limited to meet occupancy regulations and help protect people’s health. Builders who attend in person are encouraged to wear a mask.
Adult in-person convention attendees will have access to the annual keynote, general sessions, display floor outside of public hours, LEGO games and building challenges, swag bags, t-shirts and commemorative models for purchase, an awards ceremony, LEGO-related classes and workshops, social events to meet with the AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO) community, and all online activities. BrickCon 2022 adult builder registrations (14+) are now available for $85 USD per person at AFOL.BrickCon.org.
Online experience attendees will have access to presentation live streams, online games, tours, the private BrickCon Discord server, general merchandise and commemorative model for purchase, online social meet-ups, virtual door prizes, as well as a virtual exhibition complete with awards for their LEGO creations. BrickCon 2022 Online attendees tickets are also available for $25 USD per person at AFOL.BrickCon.org.
“It is important to us to offer an online convention to our global BrickCon family,” said Walker. “The past few years have been challenging but brought out the best of the LEGO community that we are eager to celebrate, no matter where our attendees are located.”
General public tickets to see the LEGO creations on display at BrickCon 2022 in Seattle will be available later this summer.
