Both Lucasfilm and Disney have partnered with the LEGO Group for numerous years, in fact, Disney was the first-ever licensed partner back before LEGO® bricks even existed. So although not directed related to LEGO products, the announcements from Star Wars Celebration could heavily influence future set releases. I’ve already covered the first trailer for Andor but there’s been a few other reveals which could inspire new LEGO sets. To be clear these are not confirmation of or ‘insider’ knowledge of upcoming product releases.
Star Wars
- The Mandalorian Season 3 will hit Disney+ in February 2023
- Ashoka will also arrive on Disney+ in 2023
- New Series – Star Wars Skeleton Crew will be an ‘Amblin-era’ type Star Wars adventure set after Return of the Jedi and will star Jude Law due in 2023
Indiana Jones
- Indiana Jones 5 will be released in June 2023
Willow
- Willow Ufgood returns in a direct sequel to the 1988 movie in a new Disney+ series coming later this year
As we’ve already seen Disney+ has inspired a number of sets including both Marvel and Star Wars. With The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Feet and Obi-Wan Kenobi all getting sets. So it’s highly likely upcoming series like Ashoka, Andor and Skeleton Crew will follow suit. We’ve also had past sets inspired by Indiana Jones, so the latest adventure would act as the perfect inspiration for new sets. Finally, Willow is a classic fairy tale adventure and is just calling out to be turned into a LEGO set, with multiple heroes, a magical setting and mythical beasts are the basic blueprints for a LEGO set. Remember these are hypothetical and not confirmation of upcoming LEGO sets.
