Plans have been submitted to make a number of changes to the Adventure Land area of LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort. The area, which currently features the S.Q.U.I.D. Surfer water rider and Fish & Chip restaurant is set to become The LEGO® Movie Land. Plans suggest it will feature a new drop tower ride, indoor attraction, a play area and a photo opportunity area as well as rebranding current rides. The drop tower ride will be similar to the Unikitty Disco Drop ride at LEGOLAND Florida, with the indoor attraction having the possibility of being a flying theatre ride similar to the LEGO Movie Master of Flight ride. The play area will be themed around Benny and his love of Classic Space. The photo opportunity are could be a life-sized version Emmet’s Triple Decker Couch or a similar large-scale set. Finally the existing S.Q.U.I.D. Surfer ride looks set to be rebranded with DUPLO invaders similar to the Battle for Bricksburg ride, this would include oversized DUPLO models. This area will also tie nicely into the parks current DUPLO Valley water park area.
The plans are yet to be approved but are part of additional plans Merlin have already had approved to expand the park. These include a new main entrance area, bigger retail store, holiday park and a new ride area. This was thought to be a LEGO Movie Land but would now seem to be a completely new themed area as it’s located on the opposite side of the park. This news also comes on the back of a poor season for LEGOLAND parks globally, which ironically is down to the poor reception of The LEGO Movie 2, upon which the LEGO Movie Land areas are based upon. Hopefully once the purchase of Merlin, by the family run company who founded the LEGO Group, is completed LEGOLAND parks will see a better focus on current content and integration with the LEGO brand values.

They plan on building it over two closed seasons and partly when the park is open, only if the plans are approved sharpish. If not it may not happened at all.
