Yesterday afternoon LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Birmingham officially unveiled their Miniland display. Built from over 1.5 million LEGO® bricks, the attraction is filled with a number of LEGO recreations of famous Birmingham landmarks. I was due to attend but I’m currently battling a very nasty cold (yes during a heatwave). So unfortunately I couldn’t be there in person, instead I’ve had a virtual tour of the Miniland. Birmingham has a varied array of buildings from modern classics like the Bullring and Birmingham Library to more traditional structures like the Moor Street Station and Cadbury factory. Many of which are not particularly easy to build with LEGO bricks. Another great thing about LEGO Discovery Centre Minilands are the inclusion of minifigures. This acts an extra layer of character to the bustling city scenes. The LEGO model makers have done a great job of capturing the vibrancy of Birmingham, thanks to a mixture of amazing LEGO constructions and interactive elements, like moving vehicles and the ability to plunge Miniland into the dark of night, complete with building becoming illuminated. You’ll be able to see the Miniland for yourself from tomorrow, when the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham officially opens it’s doors to the public.
