In 2020, the LEGO® Marvel theme expanded beyond the usual playset to include buildable display props with the first being an Iron Man Helmet. Last year the infamous Infinity Gauntlet was transformed into a unique LEGO build and it’s now joined by its Stark-built counterpart, the Nano Gauntlet. Don’t be fooled into thinking this is just a recoloured version of the Infinity Gauntlet, it’s a completely new build. So how does the set compare to the original Infinity Gauntlet and is this another unique Marvel set which needs to be added to your collection? Take a closer look at the upcoming LEGO Marvel Infinity Saga Nano Gauntlet.

The Infinity Gauntlet is one of the most powerful weapons of all time. But its power is only given by acting as a conduit for the Infinity Stones. With half of all life in the universe lost with a snap of the fingers, those who remained after the catastrophic event created a plan to regain the five magical gems from different moments across time. But those Infinity Stones needed a new conduit and so Tony Stark uses his technical prowess to craft a new gauntlet – the Nano Gauntlet. It’s first used by Bruce Banner in his Hulk form before a variant of the tech is used by Stark after battling with Thanos.
The build begins with the black plinth, which has become a standard in all displayable sets including the various helmets. This not only provides a display base but also a central core on which the Nano Gauntlet is built. Once the core is complete, it’s time to add the outer shell of the Gauntlet. Unlike the Infinity Gauntlet, the Nano Gauntlet relies less on plates to achieve this. It’s also a lot slimmer compared to Thanos’ Gauntlet.
There’s a much better consistency with the use of colours. The golden colouring of the Infinity Gauntlet was largely achieved with drum lacquered bricks but they were combined with sand yellow elements with mixed results. As the Nano Gauntlet was created using the same tech as the Iron Man suits, it uses the same colour scheme. That includes a number of silver drum lacquered elements. These sit much better with the standard grey bricks.
But the Nano Gauntlet merely acts as a conduit for the six Infinity Stones. These are built independently of the rest of the set but fit nicely into it. The stones are simply crafted by transparent pieces all matching the colours of the MCU versions of the stones. Most of the stones are built in the exact same style as they appear in the Infinity Gauntlet set. It’s just the Soul Stone, which lets the side down as it’s missing the extra couple of transparent tiles. As disappointing as that is, the way the stones are mounted on the knuckles of the Gauntlet is amazing. The messenger bag featured in a number of minifigure characters, is repurposed to sit around the Power, Space, Reality and Soul Stones. These are held in place thanks to a roller skate element and the body of the Gauntlet.
The whole set is finished off with a 6×4 plate, featuring the name of the set and the LEGO Infinity Saga logo, printed not a sticker. This connects to a 2×2 hinge played on the base of the display plinth. It’s nice that the sets have a level of consistency to them. Although each of the similar displayable sets is focused on very different subjects, they fit nicely together thanks to the display bases. I really like these sorts of sets and this one slightly edges out the Infinity Gauntlet.
Review Round-up
I’m enjoying the variety of sets we are now getting from the Marvel theme and this is a great companion piece for the Infinity Gauntlet, Thor’s Hammer and even the recently released Groot. I like that it’s a completely new design compared to the Infinity Gauntlet, yet has a similar look and feel.

+ Completely new build offers a different experience to the Infinity Gauntlet
+ Great combination of parts, especially around the Infinity Stones
Against
