75363: The Mandalorian N-1 Starfighter Microfighter Review

The Microfighters sets were first introduced in 2014 and since then have been slowly drip-feeding us tiny versions of iconic ships and vehicles from the Star Wars universe. Some of the latest Microfighters have been inspired by the Star Wars Disney+ series, The Mandalorian. The set I’ll be taking a look at today feels like it was released ages ago, partly due to it being revealed back in March and because it’s the second Microfighters set to feature Din Djarin. Here’s an early look at the N-1 Starfighter Microfighter ship.

When we were first introduced to The Mandalorian, the mysterious bounty hunter owned an ex-Imperial Class ship known as the Razor Crest. This was previously recreated as a Microfighter set in 2021. Due to an unfortunate mishap with a laser blast from space, Din Djarin now zips around the Outer Rim in a converted N-1 Starfighter. The same ships were used by the Naboo Security forces on the cusp of the Clone Wars.

The smaller scale of the Microfighter format results in an extremely simplistic take on Mando’s current ship. But the overall appearance matches that of the source material. It features a couple of stud shooters, which add some playability. It also features space for both Din and Grogu to be placed inside the ship.

Most Microfighter sets feature a single minifigure, this set features two. Well, one a bit as The Mandalorian is joined by Grogu. Both characters can be found in other sets, but for now, this is the lowest price set to get the best version of the Mandalorian minifigure.

Overall

It’s a nice addition to the Microfighters range and if, like me, you own all the previous sets, you’ll certainly want this one. It’s not a bad set but it’s RRP certainly is. Every single previous Microfighter set has had an RRP of £8.99/$9.99/9.99€. The N-1 Starfighter set is £12.99/$15.99/15.99€. The increase in price is outrageous, even with the addition of a second character, the leap in price is indefensible. It features around the same piece count as previous sets even with Grogu being in the set. But this is the dilemma if you own the other 20+ sets in the Microfighters range, would you really want to miss out on this one? In which case, the price wouldn’t matter. As much as I like these little collectable sets, if this is the new pricing going forward, then the Microfighter range should be retired.
