It’s the holiday season in Heartlake City and some of the LEGO® Friends gang have headed off the snowy mountains for a wintery break. Where do you stay when holidaying in the snow-capped mountains? A glamming igloo of course. The Igloo Holiday Adventure is the smallest of two new LEGO Friends ‘Winter Holiday’ sets being released in September. Ahead of its release, here’s a very early look at the LEGO Friends Igloo Holiday Adventure set.

The set is described as an igloo, which is partly correct as it’s a dome structure in the snow. But it has more in common with a glamping pod you’d find at a campsite. but before constructing the igloo pod, you build a separate section dubbed a steam pool. I really like this part of the build, the use of elements and how they are combined to create a cosy nook which also highlights the set’s chilly location. The steam pool appears to be a natural spring, with a small waterfall, trickling into a small, round pool. It feels quite magical.
The igloo pod certainly looks unique, thanks to the use of the large quarter dome pieces, the same elements used to great effect in the outstanding Botanical Garden set. These cover a small circular building but can be folded back to provide better access to the interior of the igloo. Considering the inside of the igloo is quite compact it has a surprising amount of detail, including two single beds and a smaller bed tucked in the corner. The igloo also uses a part I can’t recall seeing before. It’s a 1×1 stud with an angled bar on it. In this set, it’s used to connect the doorway to the body of the igloo. The igloo is connected to the steam pool via a strip of lights, which uses the rubber rope element. Although this provides a sturdy element, I prefer the old string version of this element.
The set feature two mini-dolls and a micro-doll. These include two of the main characters, Paisley and Aliya who are kitted out in winter-themed outfits. They are joined by Ella, who is Paisley’s little sister. I’m still not a fan of the micro-dolls, but they have helped to expand the cast of characters featured in the Friends sets.
Along with the human characters, the set also includes a pair of ‘sledge’ dogs. These are grey-coloured dogs, with the creature element being used for similar dogs, in other Friends sets. Despite being the same colour, both dogs are unique thanks to different print detail. The dogs are used to pull a little sledge, which has an interesting little harness. This is a rubbery element which wraps around the dog and is held in place by being slipped onto a bar. This is then connected to the sledge.
Overall
The whole set has a very Nordic feel to it, from the style of the building, the snowy location and even some of the plants dotted about the set, including wild lingonberry plants and interesting coloured trees. It pairs nicely with the upcoming Holiday Ski Slope and Café set, which is being released alongside this set. It also expands the offering of the LEGO Friends theme. The colouring of some elements and the characters obviously means it follows the unique style of LEGO Friends sets, but the obvious connection to winter means it could be integrated into Christmas displays.
