Another collection of unique LEGO® Minifigures has started to appear in LEGO stores. Thanks to the use of unique elements and themed characters, they have become as sought after as Collectable Minifigures. Often referred to as BAMs, the latest Build a Minifigure offerings include a trio of travel-themed characters. Here’s a closer look at the three new minifigures, now starting to appear in LEGO Stores and certified stores.
Balloonist
The Balloonist has a similar vibe to the Series 3 CMF pilot. But it ditches the goggles for an old-fashioned alidade compass accessory. The torso design has a vague Steampunk feel to it; overall, the pilot does feel like a more realistic one than the fantasy realms often associated with Steampunk. The Balloonist also has two expressions, one of which suggests his flight may not be going to plan.
Airline Pilot
There have been many different pilots featured in LEGO sets, particularly LEGO City ones. These have mostly been male, but a female pilot has joined the ranks. She’s wearing a similar style suit to those featured in the most recent airport set, 60502. But adds a small gold ‘wings’ badge, which is reminiscent of some of the older pilot minifigures. Her accessory is a black suitcase, and to add to the coolness pilots often have, she’s sporting a pair of aviator sunglasses.
Backpacker
The Backpacker is colour character compared to its fellow travellers. They use a newly recoloured variant of the beanie hat with hair. This has previously been used for Cooper in the DREAMZzz sets, several Friends sets and for Hooper in the Jaws set. This version is light purple with orange hair. The torso features a colour design similar to Parker’s from the Hidden Side sets. To help with their travels, the Backpacker includes a brown backpack.
