Toys R Us are having the best of times and following major issues with the US side of the company, it now seems the UK arm will follow suit. Although Toys R Us UK aren’t in administration like there US counterparts, the company is taking preemptive steps to reduce their store footprint across the UK, which means some of their largest stores will be closing in the spring. In the last couple of years Toys R Us have been favouring the opening smaller outlets in shopping centres as opposed to the warehouse-style out of town stores. These have become costly to maintain and staff, so of the 26 stores set to close many of them are these larger style stores. This will have a slight impact on LEGO sales and possible future TRU exclusive sets. The list of closing stores is as follows but they will remain open over Christmas and into the New Year so will have minimal effect of Christmas shopping.
