If you’ve ever visited the Leicester Square LEGO® Store, you’ll know the upper floor is home to an area which gets refreshed every few months. The area is now home to a LEGO SMART Play zone, where you’ll be able to check out the new SMART Play Star Wars sets, test the new SMART Play features, build a Make & Take ship and look at several new SMART Play-inspired LEGO Big Builds. It was incredibly interesting to see the Smart Bricks in actual sets. To see how they worked and the added play features they afforded each set.
I was impressed by the simplicity of getting the bricks to make noise which was relevant to the play set.
But, I found the synthesised noises of the Minifigures really jarring. Yes, I get it, these are not sound bricks, but the noises generated were just a cacophony of unrelated sounds.
The Lego staff were very knowledgable and enthusiastic. They presented this innovative idea in an engaging way and, along with videos being displayed on big TV screens, they brought to life what we’ve only seen online.
