Today marks the opening of a brand new independent LEGO® shop called Brick & Mix will be opening in Exeter. The shop will be filled with the latest LEGO sets along with a few hard to find one, there’s also a special build zone, where budding builders can unleash their inner Master Builder. If your build is a masterpiece too good to take apart, give it a weigh and you can purchase your amazing creation or choose to leave it behind, it may even make it into the Brick & Mix display case. It’s always nice to see members of the LEGO community in interest ways and we’ll like to wish good luck to Darren, Claire and family on the opening of their new store and if you’re nearby why not pop in and take a look Follow Brick & Mix on Facebook for all the latest news from the store.
December Opening Times:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday – 10-5pm.
- Thursday – 12noon-9pm and
- AFOL evening in The Build Zone – 6-9pm (16yrs+ only)

Dear Adam,
My name is Lucienne Kidd and I am the Job Coach for the Deaf Academy in Exmouth. I currently have a young man in our college that is looking for a work experience placement and has a keen interest in all things Lego.
I am hoping that you might be able to advise me on which businesses in the Exeter area may be able to offer my student a work placement within this field, for 1 day a week, starting from September. We are very flexible and can work around their schedules, as needed.
He is profoundly deaf but extremely bright and I know this would be his dream job. All our students, when they are out on work experience, come with a member of staff who would facilitate communication, so you wouldn’t need to worry about any communication barriers.
It is my job to help students realise their potential and worth in society and break down barriers to work. However, I cannot succeed in this without the help of people like yourself being willing to give our students a chance.
Statistics show that the life expectancy of a person with a disability is 40 years shorter than a person without. However, Statistics also show that those with a disability who are accepted into meaningful work, will extend that life expectancy by a further twenty years.
With this in mind, I hope you will consider my request. Please let me know if any of this is possible, it would be wonderful to hear from you as soon as possible.
