For the final LEGO® Fortnite Set V Source feature it’s time to look at the game’s most enduring feature. Fortnite is filled with iconic items and characters but the most recognisable element of the game has to be the Battle Bus. The flying vehicle has been a part of the game since the Battle Royale mode was introduced and took inspiration from the game’s original mode called Save the World. This has a van which needed to be launched into the air using BlueGlo. The Battle Bus transports players to the game’s various Battle Royale islands by flying over them and allowing the player to drop at different locations.
The vehicle first appeared in LEGO form in the LEGO Islands minigame, LEGO Tycoon: Tilted Towers. It’s since been added to LEGO Fortnite Odyssey as a means to fast travel around the game’s vast world. Despite that, the set based on the Battle Bus is quite different to its in-game counterpart. Although the Battle Bus has featured different designs over the years, the set is based on the standard style. Its roof can be removed to reveal seats for all of the minifigures. The roof section also features the iconic balloon device, connected to a BlueGlo hopper on the bonnet of the bus.
Battalion Brawler was introduced to the game during Chapter 3 and is part of the Island Originals set. The character’s look is based on Jonesy. Adventure Peely is one of the many variant styles for the humanoid banana, Peely. The outfit was introduced alongside the launch of LEGO Fortnite.
Brite Bomber is another original character who was first released in 2017. The character’s LEGO Style appeared in LEGO Fortnite and acted as a guide to the game. The character was also featured in LEGO Fortnite’s first content pack. The Operation Brite Starter Pack can also be accessed for free using the QR code found in each of the LEGO Fortnite sets. Cuddle Team Leader is a costumed variant of Ramirez and appeared during Season 2. The LEGO Style of the character was one of the first to be revealed before LEGO Fortnite’s launch. The minifigure’s unique headpiece can be removed to reveal a standard head and includes a hairpiece.
Meowscles is another Battle Pass character who debuted in Chapter 2 of Season 2. The minifigure is based on the character’s default style and is another Fortnite minifigure with a unique element. The character is an NPC in LEGO Fortnite who can be recruited to live in your village. Drift could be unlocked via Season 5’s Battle pass with the minifigure being based on the character’s Stage 2 variant style. The minifigure uses a unique hood piece featuring the character’s fox-like mask. This can be removed and replaced with a mohawk hairpiece to offer another variant style of the character.
Cube Assassin is a mysterious faceless character who was first introduced during Chapter 2’s third season. The Minifigure features a purple transparent head which is decorated with pink shards. Raven joined Fortnite’s lineup in 2018 and more recently stars in the latest LEGO Pack released alongside the Storm Chaser storyline. The Raven LEGO Style is similar in design to the various Storm King minions but is based on the original Nevermore outfit. Trespasser Elite is another character first introduced during Chapter 2 and arrived during Season 7. The armoured character uses a couple of different elements to get as close to the in-game outfit as possible.
Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode heavily emphasizes the use of ‘real-world’ weaponry, which isn’t included in any of the LEGO Fortnite sets. Instead, the set’s minifigures feature non-lethal items such as Slurp Juice, Grapplers, Pickaxes, and Slap Juice. The brick-built versions match the styles found in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey.
All four of the main LEGO Fortnite sets are impressive takes on their in-game inspirations but the Battle Bus has to be the best. It’s a great take on the vehicle used to drop players into matches, but the minifigures impress the most. Almost every character uses unique new elements to match the character’s appearance. They also match their LEGO Styles perfectly.
The LEGO Fortnite Battle Bus set is now available from LEGO.com and LEGO stores, as well as a wider range of retailers. Many of the LEGO Fortnite minifigures are also available in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey, LEGO Brick Life, and LEGO Islands.
