With the latest edition of Forza Horizon speeding onto Xbox and PC today, it’s the ideal time to take a look back at the first-ever LEGO® content for the game series fourth outing. Back in 2019, at E3, Xbox Studios and Playground Games announced the LEGO Speed Champions expansion for Forza Horizon 4. This added an entire LEGO brick-filled world to the popular racing series, along with several LEGO Speed Champions vehicles.
Once the LEGO expansion was purchased, players could travel to LEGO Valley. This added a brick-filled world to the UK-based map of Forza Horizon 4. When transported to LEGO Valley, players became minifigures and could get behind the wheel of various LEGO Speed Champions sets. These include the McLaren Senna, the Ferrari F40 Competizione, and the 1967 Mini Cooper S Rally. By completing various Brick Challenges, players could unlock LEGO models to decorate their home plots in LEGO Valley.
In addition to the three LEGO Speed Champions sets, which appeared in the expansion at launch, two additional cars were added a few months later. In July 2019, the digital version of set 75895: Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0 became available to drive. Then, in February 2020, a classic Speed Champion car was added to the game in the form of set 75878: Bugatti Chiron.
As part of the LEGO Speed Champions expansion launch, to celebrate the arrival of the LEGO Speed Champions cars in Forza Horizon 4, LEGO have created a neat-looking brick-built Xbox One console and controller. Modelled on a standard Xbox One console, the LEGO version is built to the same scale and includes part of a race track, a McLaren Senna speeding across it.
Forza fans weren’t too happy with the LEGO expansion despite how fun it was. I even purchased an Xbox One just to play it and enjoyed the game. So whilst it’s unlikely a similar LEGO-themed expansion may appear in Forza 6, the newly released game will have a LEGO link. Two upcoming LEGO Technic sets will offer the ability to unlock unique in-game liveries. Both sets are released in August.
Forza Horizon 6 is available now for Xbox Series X|S and PC. A PlayStation 5 version is due at a later date.
