Launched in 1969, LEGO® DUPLO was designed to give younger kids their first build experience with larger bricks. DUPLO has been through some changes since its introduction, but it remains one of the three main LEGO Systems of Play. In recent years, DUPLO sets have been inspired by popular characters such as Peppa Pig, Mickey Mouse and Spider-Man. Joining the recently released LEGO Bluey 4+ playsets are a pair of LEGO DUPLO sets. Based on the popular animated series, the sets include unique Bluey figures and easy-to-build sets. Here’s a quick look at both the new Bluey DUPLO sets.

The smallest of the Bluey DUPLO sets takes Bluey and her Dad to the Ice Cream parlour. This is the second set to feature the Heeler’s family car, and in both cases, it was created from a unique car shell. The rest of the set features 2×4 DUPLO blocks to represent ice cream and a couple of ‘cone cups’ and ice cream scoops matching the colour of the blocks. There are two DUPLO figures featured in the set, Bluey and her Dad, Bandit. These are much bigger than minifigures and seem to suit the character’s original appearance a little better than their minifigures.
10459: Bluey’s Family House with Memory Game

Similar to the car, this is another Bluey-inspired set which uses the same elements as inspiration for both a 4+ and DUPLO set. The Heeler’s family home is used as a base for a memory game. So it’s various windows and doors hide a selection of printed blocks. The images found on the blocks are also shown on a large, double-sided disc spinner. This offers an educational aspect to the set. Spin the disc and remember where it appears behind the doors. The set also includes three DUPLO figures which represent Bluey, her sister Bingo and their Mum, Chilli. So if you want the whole family, you’ll need to pick up both sets.

I’ve not had much experience with DUPLO, but I could see how they would be fun for younger kids, and they offer a colourful and safe entry point for budding future builders. Both of the LEGO DUPLO Bluey sets are available now alongside the three Bluey 4+ sets, which include: 11201: Playground Fun With Bluey & Chloe | 11202: Bluey’s Beach & Family Car Trip | 11203: Bluey’s Family House
