Next week, DK Books will publish a newly updated and expanded version of their LEGO® Minifigure: A Visual History. The book takes a detailed look at various minifigures released over the last five decades. I previously lent DK some of my minifigures to DK Books to appear in the original version of the book, and they are still featured in this updated edition. As well as being an interesting visual account of the many minifigures released over the years, the book includes an exclusive minifigure.
This edition includes a Blacktron minifigure. In 1987, the Blacktron faction was introduced alongside the colourful explorers from Futuron. In the years that followed, the Blacktron characters were often portrayed as villains. Their largely black space suits certainly make them look like bad guys. The unique minifigure included in the book is more detailed in comparison to the updated versions included in set 10355. The version includes an updated torso, which adds the yellow Blacktron ‘triforce’. This is also added to the new printed legs and the minifigure’s black-visored helmet. It’s the most detailed variant of a Blacktron astronaut yet. It’s also a nice bonus to have, should you pick up the book, which is officially released on September 4th.
