71390: Reznor Knockdown Expansion Set Review
For the last of my LEGO® Super Mario set reviews, it’s time to take a look at one of the most complex and feature-heavy sets of the new wave. Although not as large in terms of scale or pieces as Bowser’s Airship, the Reznor Takedown expansion set has way more to offer in terms of play. This is thanks to a number of working sections that combine to create an impressive addition to the LEGO Super Mario line-up. As well as...
LEGO Super Mario Frog & Bee Power-Up Packs Review
Mario’s iconic red and blue outfit is instantly recognizable for gamers and non-gamers alike. But as much as his standard outfit is so iconic, popping on some new threads has been a key aspect of Mario’s many adventures. The latest two Power-up suits to join Mario’s ever-expanding wardrobe are the Bee Suit and the Frog Suit. These once again capture elements for Mario’s past adventures from long ago as well as...
71389: Lakitu Sky World Expansion Set Review
When I build a LEGO® set I often like to pop on something relevant to play in the background. So if I’m tackling a Star Wars set, I pop on a film or TV series from a galaxy far, far away. For a Marvel set, I call upon the MCU, you get the idea. So as I built this particular Mario expansion set, I popped on the ‘classic’ Super Mario Bros. movie. In a similar way that this movie is very, very, very loosely based on the...
71388: Boss Sumo Bro Topple Tower Expansion Set Review
The Sumo Bro first appeared in Super Mario World, but they would make a return and beef up for a boss role in New Super Mario Bros. U for the Wii U. As their name suggests these bulkier Koopa troopers, have a similar appearance and movement of a Japanese Sumo Wrestler. They also have a penchant for high places, both of which have been capture in one of the latest additions to the LEGO Super Mario theme. Just like every other LEGO®...
71395: Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block Review
Whether he’s basking in Sunshine, blasting across the Galaxy or simply on an Odyssey, Mario has been delighting gamers for over 35 years. The iconic platforming plumber has even found time for a spot of tennis, the occasional kick-a-bout and plenty of high-speed racing. In recent times Mario has made the leap from pixel to brick in the LEGO Super Mario range of sets, which allow you to bring levels to life with a series of...
10293: LEGO Winter Village Santa’s Visit Set Review
Christmas comes but once a year, and when it comes it brings good cheer. But it’s not just cheer the festive period bestows upon us, it’s also a time to expand the Winter Village with a brand new set. This year’s offering is a little more traditional and grounded in reality, with a festive-tinged family home and a visit from Santa Claus. Former fan designer Chris McVeigh is once again behind the latest addition to...
21329: LEGO Ideas Fender Stratocaster Set Review
Just about all sets to be released under the LEGO® Ideas banner come from fan designers uploading their creations and getting 10,000 votes. In recent years, Contests have offered a unique way to gather fan-created content. After a few smaller projects have been transformed into GWPs, the set which is the focus of this review is the first to be released after being featured in a LEGO Ideas Contest. Back in 2020 LEGO Ideas ran the...
