The set’s fan designer, Brent Waller, discusses seeing his idea finally become an official LEGO set. Brent Waller has been working with the same dogged determination as Mulder pursuing the truth about alien life. A decade ago he created a build inspired by The X-Files that Gillian Anderson took a shine to – and after several false starts, it has now become an official LEGO set.
The talented fan shares his story in this month’s Blocks magazine. It’s not the only exclusive interview though – Chris Carter, the creator of The X-Files, discusses the beloved paranormal-focused television show in fascinating detail. And because bad guys are always fun, Cigarette-Smoking Man actor William B. Davis reveals what it was like to play the ultimate villain.
Elsewhere in this issue, Jess Uhre Rahbek, a professor who specialises in play, explains the concepts that underpin his new book, This is Why You Love LEGO. It’s perhaps the most unique LEGO book ever published, as Jess explores why sitting with loose bricks is so gratifying and what makes it such a compelling way to play.
To inspire your creativity, Blocks is introducing an expanded Create section – the new pages demonstrate some interesting techniques you can use to kick off a new project, a guide to crafting a mech that you can complete however you like, a unique type of build to try with cheese slopes and more.
