With the release of LEGO® Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight only a couple of weeks away, it’s clear that TT Games’ latest LEGO title will not include any physical goodies. It’s one of only a few LEGO Games not to offer an exclusive LEGO minifigure or mini set. So, as it would seem the tradition has ended, it’s a good time to take a look back at some of the past LEGO bonuses which have been packed in or given away with various LEGO Games.

Long before licensed LEGO games, some earlier titles drew inspiration from classic LEGO themes. In the late 90s, LEGO Games were also a little simpler and included a LEGO-themed digital chess game inspired by the popular Castle sets. PC copies of the game featured the Crazy King mini set. One of the earliest attempts to capture the fun of building with LEGO bricks in the digital realm was LEGO Creator. This game dropped you in a sandbox environment and let you build. The game also included a Biker Bob set inspired by an in-game character. (image via Brickset)
2010 was a standout moment for LEGO Games, and it saw the release of LEGO Universe. This ambitious MMO helped inspire future games, including LEGO Fortnite. Two special sets were created for the game. The Nexus Minifigure was included with pre-orders of the game, and a special in-store build event bagged you a Nexus Force Rocket mini set.
A new era for LEGO Games began in 2005 when a small UK developer decided to blend the worlds of LEGO and Star Wars. Despite the popularity of LEGO Star Wars: The Videogame, it didn’t include any physical LEGO items. In fact, it would be a few years before TT Games’ LEGO titles would begin in 2010 with the long-forgotten LEGO Rock Band game. This blended the musical expertise of Harmonix’s rhythm music games with TT Games’ LEGO humour. Pre-ordered bonuses for the game included a pair of key rings featuring a musician minifigure and Rockband logo.
Between 2011 and 2022, each TT Games-developed LEGO title included a unique physical bonus. These were mostly minifigures, with many of them being exclusive versions of characters that have never appeared in sets such as Plastic Man, which was packed with LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. ‘Super’ Lex Luthor is included with LEGO DC Super-Villains and Power Suit Lex came with LEGO Batman 2.
From the other side of the tracks, the various LEGO Marvel-themed games offered Giant Man Hank Pym, included with LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2. Mk1 Iron Patriot Gun Mounting System came with copies of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, and the excellent Silver Centurion came with copies of LEGO Marvel Avengers.
LEGO Games made two trips to Middle-Earth, the first covered the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, with copies of the game including an Elrond minifigure. The follow-up took inspiration from The Hobbit films, well, some of them. The game included a special version of Bilbo Baggins in his morning attire.
Another beloved movie franchise inspired TT Games’ 2015 LEGO title. LEGO Jurassic World included two bonuses. One was a Dr Wu minifigure, and the other was a polybag featuring a Gallimimus dinosaur.
LEGO Dimensions was TT Games’ attempt at the ‘Toys to Life’ craze started by Spyro and Disney Infinity. Although this saw numerous physical items released, it still includes two bonus items. A Supergirl Dimensions minifigure was included with PlayStation 4 Starter Packs. Later, a Green Arrow Dimensions minifigure was given away at events such as E3.
LEGO Star Wars was where the formula for LEGO Games was forged, and TT Games’ last LEGO title was The Skywalker Saga. This was also the last outing of their games to include a physical element in the form of Blue Milk Luke.
After the various delays to LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, the LEGO Group opened up the LEGO video game license to other developers, including 2K, who were meant to be creating several LEGO titles. Instead, their first and only game was LEGO 2K Drive. The ‘Awesome’ edition of the game included a polybag featuring the Aquadirt vehicle.
