It’s been a rather uneventful week for LEGO® news. There’s been no new set reveals or launches, even the leaks have been quelled somewhat. I guess the big news is the rumoured ‘cancellation’ of LEGO VIYIDO, which the LEGO Group has come out and stated it isn’t being canned, instead it’s being re-evaluated. Although I agree VIDIYO has its flaws I really don’t get the hatred from some corners of adult fandom. The LEGO ecosystem is vast enough to span from earlier childhood and far beyond, even offering sets directly aimed at adult builders. It can offer sets directed at different age groups, it can partner with others and most importantly it can experiment with new things. One thing LEGO sets should never be is stuck in their ways. These innovations can inspire all ages and it’s that imagination that will allow future designers to continue to grow the LEGO brand and fanbase.
