If you watched the F1 Live event last week, you might have caught the joke about this team’s name, which is quite the mouth full. But despite the overly complex name, the team is also known as the Racing Bulls and debuted in the 2024 F1 season. As the name suggests, the team is connected to Red Bull, where it previously acted as the junior team to Red Bull Racing before becoming its sister team. Like many F1 teams, VCARB does have roots in now-defunct teams, but in its current form, it’s one of the newest teams to join the F1 Championship. Here’s a closer look at the second Red Bull-connected LEGO® Speed Champions F1 Collection set.

It’s almost becoming a Speed Champions review catchphrase, but despite the similar appearance of F1 cars, their Speed Champions counterparts have been surprisingly different builds. The VCARB set is probably the most unique of them all. It’s one of the most colourful of the F1 car liveries thanks to the mix of red, white and lighter blue colours. Plus the car’s body has a unique shape to it. Most of the sponsorship logos follow the same colour scheme apart from the green Cash App logo.
One thing I’m finding, the more I build the F1 sets is an issue with the stickers. On several occasions, when applying them I’ve found the sticky residue is coming away from the sticker and smearing on the surface of elements. Not ideal when trying to position the mass of stickers needed on this and all of the F1 cars.
As technology has evolved, the F1 cars have become more streamlined and powered by various devices to give an advantage on the race track. What I like about the Racing Bulls car is the retro vibes it has. The sharp angles of the side sections of the car give it a similar appearance to some of the earlier F1 cars. In terms of the build process, they offer a unique build experience as well, sloping against the body of the car and pairing the sticker detail, featured on the sloping parts, with that found on the panels of the car.
Similar to the Oracle Red Bull F1 car, this is the only other of the Speed Champions F1 sets to include a unique Halo bar mount. Although the bar is created by the same rod strip, the way is ‘locked’ around the driver is different. This sees it lodge against a 2×2 scale plate instead of a 2×2 round tile with a hole in the middle.
This is another of the Speed Champions sets to feature a female driver. The race suit for the Racing Bulls is all white with a tiny version of the team’s logo on the torso. The same logo is stamped on the unique race helmet. Due to the generic nature of the race suit, you can switch around the heads and hair to create different drivers. Or source them from elsewhere should you wish to represent a certain driver or even your own minifigure.
The VCARB team may not be as exciting as some of its rivals, but their car makes a great Speed Champions set. It may seem less detailed in places but so far it’s been the most fun to build. The minimal build for the body of the Racing Bull’s car results in a unique finish compared to every other car in the range and some retro vibes.
