Aston Martin is well known for its luxury cars, but it has also been a part of Formula 1 since the 1950s. Like many F1 teams, they have gone through various iterations when taking part in the race championship. Be it through sponsoring teams or providing engines. They have been in their current form since 2021 after the rebranding of the Racing Point F1 Team. Despite Aston Martin’s long history in F1, they haven’t won any championships. This Speed Champions set is based on the AMR24 car, which was used during the 2024 season. Here’s a closer look at the Aston Martin Aramco F1 LEGO® Speed Champions set.

The first LEGO link-up with Aston Martin came courtesy of an iconic British Secret Agent. In 2018, James Bond’s classic Aston Martin DB5 was recreated for a large-scale Creator Expert set. Soon after a much smaller version appeared in the Speed Champions theme, along with another movie car, inspired by the Fast & Furious franchise. Thanks to the Bond partnership, the LEGO Group and Aston Martin partnered for several other Speed Champions sets including an F1 set based on the 2023 car. The car featured in this Speed Champions set replicates the 2024 livery which is mostly black and dark green.
Compared to some of the F1 teams, Aston Martin Aramco’s livery is quite muted leaning more into the brand’s well-known ‘Sterling Green’ and a large amount of black. Despite the large number of sponsorship logos, even these are muted, mostly being white logos or names. As you can see from the sticker sheet, the most colourful the branding gets is on the spoiler, through the Aramco and Valvoline logos.
Although the Aston Martin car only features two main colours, green and black, the details of the car are well-defined. The layering of plates and curved pieces offers a substantial recreation of the real car but better still a solid set. Some of the other F1 cars I’ve built have felt a little delicate in places. One thing I did find that you might need to tweak during the build is the rear slope behind the driver’s section. This uses a pair of slope-angled bricks, which clip onto a bar within the body of the car. They are then used by a sword blade, which slots between them. However, if the gap between the slopes isn’t wide enough the blade piece doesn’t sit correctly. But it’s easily adjusted.
Similar to the Mercedes car, the Aston Martin also has plate fins along the edge of the vehicle. These are connected a little more securely, with a pair of brackets, mostly used to connect things to the back of minifigures. Along with 1×1 tiles with a shaft, better known as the tops for drinks bottles. The body of the car is bulked out with layers of curved bows. These parts of the set show off the exposed carbon fibre found on the real car.
Although the current F1 championship features a line-up of just male drivers, the chances of a female driver taking to the grid are edging ever closer thanks to the F1 Academy. The generic driver for the Aston Martin set is a lady, she wears an entirely green race suit and a green F1 helmet. Both are decorated with just the Aston Martin logo.
It’s another interesting Speed Champions set and one which offers a unique build experience. I really expected each of the F1 sets to be very similar but they do differ quite a bit. Of course, there are sections which are the same over each car but these are limited to wheel mount, Halo bar and parts of the car’s iconic front section and spoilers. The Aston Martin car is another good recreation of the real car. It joins the rest of the LEGO Speed Champions F1 range, launching on March 1st.
