There is a common theme with upcoming LEGO® Jurassic sets. Both of the new releases coming in January, complement previously released sets. With the Triceratops Skull pairing up with T.rex Skull, the set I’m taking a closer look at also acts as a great companion to a past Jurassic World set. Inspired by the Netflix series, Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory, Little Eatie is an adolescent T. rex who first appears in the fourth season of Camp Cretaceous. She is even younger in this LEGO set and lives up to her nickname. Here’s an early preview of the LEGO Jurassic Little Eatie: T. rex set.

As mentioned, this is the second dinosaur from Camp Cretaceous to inspire a buildable infant version. Unlike Bumpy, Little Eatie doesn’t appear in the show as a newly hatched dinosaur, so an air of artistic license has been taken with this set. In Camp Cretaceous, Little Eatie is the daughter of Big Eatie, a pair of T. rex that hunt the stranded kids.
Similar to Baby Bumpy, Little Eatie has a moving element built into the set. So there’s a plunger, which sits in the head of the dinosaur. This causes the bottom jaw of the mouth to move. It’s a simple feature and fun to play with. The eyes are also similar to those on Bumpy, which offers a nice bit of consistency across the two sets.
As a carnivorous species, Little Eatie is partial to a tasty bit of meat. This is shown in the set as a Flintstones-like slab of meat, which is nestled in a rocky plate. Again this is a simple build but its addition makes it a nice display piece.
As a smaller set, there are some limitations to how it can move. Along with the aforementioned jaw, Little Eatie’s head can be twisted around; her tail can be moved as can her tiny arms. There’s also slight movement in her legs.
I was surprised how much I liked this set, it doesn’t take long to build but offers a fun build. Unfortunately, there is a slight downside and it affects a lot of creature or character builds. To offer articulation, certain joint elements are used. Many of these are only available in black which often clashes with the rest of the build. It will be interesting to see if other dinosaurs can be replicated in the same style. The LEGO Jurassic Little Eatie: T. rex set will be available from January 1st and can be pre-ordered today.
