It’s a lot later than I had planned, but my final review of the newly released LEGO® Marvel 2025 sets is here. Unfortunately, one element in my set was missing, and the replacement part had only just arrived. However, that means the review is nicely timed for the release of the new animated Spider-Man series on Disney+, which features a scene similar to the epic battle between the Avengers from Captain America: Civil War. The set I’m taking a look at today is the latest to be inspired by a memorable scene from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The ‘Airport Battle’ has become an iconic moment as it features the introduction of Spider-Man into the MCU. Here’s a look at the LEGO Marvel Captain America: Civil War Battle set.

The MCU is filled with iconic moments and scenes, many of which have been recreated in recent LEGO sets. For example, previous sets have replicated the Spider-Man trio’s battle atop the Statue of Liberty. The Avengers assault on the Hydra Base in Age of Ultron’s opening moments. Plus the female Marvel heroes battle with Thanos during Endgame’s battle. The latest is based on Captain America: Civil War. Following Ultron’s destructive assault on Sokovia, world governments want to have better control over the actions of ‘superheroes’. Members of the Avengers disagree on the Accords and soon face off against each other in a German Airport. That moment is the basis of this new set.
Quinjets have inspired quite a few different Marvel sets. The MCU aircraft is favoured by the Avengers and SHIELD. They have appeared in previous sets at varying sizes. The one found in this set is quite small, being similar in size to the ships included in the Avengers Towers set. Although quite small, the Quinjet is nicely detailed and you can tell what it’s meant to be. It has enough room to place a minifigure in the cockpit, even though it has to be awkwardly lying down. The Quinjet can be mounted on a small stand built into the scenery, giving it the impression of being in mid-flight.
Following Scott Lang’s first outing as Ant-Man, he’s soon recruited by Steve Rogers and co to take part in the Airport dust-up. During the battle, Ant-Man causes a distraction by reversing his shrinking ability to be a giant size. In a previous set, this was portrayed by an oversized, buildable minifigure-style character. This time around, the construction figure style character is used. The character has appeared in this form before back in 2023. Although the style of build is similar it’s not exactly the same. This version seems slightly less detailed but it has all the articulation of the construction figures, meaning it can be incorporated into the scene a lot better than the chunkier buildable minifigure.
The final part of the set is the section of the airport where the battle takes place. I must say takes less building than the Ant-Man figure. It has a few little details including a small section of wall in the corner of the set. This features some airport-style signage and a small gap which has a lever and can be used to ‘explode’ a couple of Roxxon fuel barrels. Just like those similar ‘scene’ sets, the section of scenery mostly acts as a canvas for displaying the minifigures. To help with this, there are various points and jumper plates dotted about the set which can be used to connect minifigures in dynamic ways. That’s one of the fun things about these types of sets. They may not feature much in terms of playability, but positioning all the characters to create an action-packed scene is quite fun.
Although the airport battle features plenty of characters only eight of them appear in the set. They include Captain America, Falcon and Black Widow. These Minifigures have previously featured in a couple of past sets. They are joined by unique versions of the Winter Soldier, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Black Panther and Wanda Maximoff.
Black Widow has a couple of nozzle shafts for her weapons, which look a lot better than the shaft rods. Black Panther uses a new head and torso to create the character, although the tweaks to the design are minimal compared to past versions. Iron Man’s Mk46 suit has featured in a past set but this version has a new torso and legs, with the detail noticeably different. This version also uses the most recent version of the Iron Man helmet, with a flip-up face plate. Spider-Man is technically ‘unique’ but uses both a head and torso from other sets. The arm printing is welcomed even if it’s a little dark.
Although the Falcon minifigure has appeared in another set, his wings are unique and include a removable Redwing drone. Captain America has two different expressions, with one being far too jolly for a fight. The same could be said for Bucky. The Winter Soldier is not known for his smile but his alternate face has an uncharacteristic grin and I love it. Wanda uses elements of previous versions of the character but the combination is unique. That’s the case with a couple of the characters found in this set.
The Marvel theme continues to impressive with a wide range of sets, each offering different things. These styles of sets based on scenes from the wider MCU are a great way for the theme to offer new things to build instead of rehashing past sets. I love the larger minifigure-style build used for the original oversized Ant-Man but the Construction Figure version does look much better. Minifigures are a big draw for Marvel sets and although this set features 8 characters, they aren’t overly exciting due to similar versions found in other sets. It will be interesting to see if the set gets expanded with an additional set at a later point, especially as there are a few other characters featured in the scene not included in the set. But as a set on its own, it offers an interesting build and a great displayable set. The LEGO Marvel Captain America Civil War Action Battle set is available now.
