There will be several new LEGO® Marvel sets released early next and whilst many of them are inspired by the MCU, others delve into Marvel’s wider history. That’s certainly the case with this upcoming set I’ll be previewing today. Although it features characters who have appeared in the MCU (or will so shortly) they haven’t teamed up on the big screen and they certainly haven’t done so with the help of a swish-looking car. Continuing the slightly awkwardly named 2025 sets, here’s a look at Iron Man Car & Black Panther Vs. Red Hulk.

I’ve made the point before that I find it odd that characters known for their ability to get around due to their suits or special powers are paired with a themed car, that they do not need. However, if I was much younger, would I find an Iron Man-themed car cool? Most definitely and the one in this set is most definitely cool.
Superhero-themed cars are often a mix of those vehicles found in the LEGO City and Speed Champions themes. Similar in function to LEGO City cars and as detailed as the Speed Champions sets. They are also, often stylised to compliment their superhero owners. The Iron Man car ticks all those boxes. Its colour scheme matches that of the majority of Tony Stark’s Iron Man suits. The Dark Red and Gold elements instantly show who the car is linked to. But if you were not convinced by the colours, the front of the car features an Arc Reactor and it’s a printed piece. In fact, the lack of stickers is what makes the car look so good. Instead of stickers, the car’s design and colours link it to the character.
Under the car’s cool-looking pearlescent blue canopy, you can access the interior of the car, where there is enough room to slot in a couple of minifigures. The sharp angle of the canopy flows nicely into the newer style angular bricks used on the front section of the car.
Blank Panther is another character not known for his use of vehicles but he does fly a Wakandan craft during multiple MCU films. The craft here is a little simpler and feels like something you’d find in a polybag set. The flyer does look quite futuristic thanks to the wing plates, which make up much of the build.
The set features three minifigures and a buildable character. They aren’t directly inspired by moments from the MCU, but they unsurprisingly share similarities. They also offer a passing connection to current MCU films, with the Red Hulk set to debut in the next Captain America film earlier next year.
Iron Man uses the newer style helmet which features a flip-up visor plate. Black Panther shares a similar appearance to the 2022 version from Shuri’s Lab and later the Avengers Tower Taxi GWP. The star of the minifigures is Red Hulk, this will be the character’s second recent appearance and his first in minifigure-form. It’s well established that Red Hulk is the alter ego of Thaddeus Ross and that’s shown on one of the minifigure’s faces. Along with an angry expression, there’s also one feature shades and a healthy moustache. The minifigures are joined by a new version of Dum-E, Tony Stark’s faithful robot assistant. I love the use of a Battle Droid torso, in yellow, for Dum-E’s base.
The MCU is filled with some heat moments but it’s nice to see those sorts of sets as they offer something new and unique for the Marvel theme. The comics and cartoons have a rich source of material which can result in some interesting Marvel sets. Yes, Iron Man has no need for a car, but it still looks mighty cool and it provides the target audience with a great playset. Plus the Red Hulk minifigure is quite fun. The Iron Man Car & Black Panther Vs. Red Hulk set will be available from January 1st and can be pre-ordered now.
