Earlier this year, Jango Fett’s Firespray-class Starship was the subject of an Ultimate Collector Series set. This offered a highly detailed take on the ship used by both Jango and his future bounty-hunting son, Jango. Now the iconic ship has been recreated as a smaller, cheaper, play-scale set, complete with minifigures of Jango and Boba Fett, plus Kaminoan Prime Minister, Lama Su. How does this smaller version of Jango’s Ship fare against its UCS counterpart and previous play-scale sets? Let’s find out with a closer look at set 75433: Jango Fett’s Starship.

When the Star Wars films were first released, mysterious bounty hunter Jango Fett soon became a fan favourite character. Despite his limited screen time, the fact that he had a cool ship and armour was all that was needed to make Boba as popular as Vader. The character’s popularity played a key role in Prequel Era films and the Clone Wars series. Boba’s backstory was fleshed out in Attack of the Clones, which revealed Boba was an unaltered clone of Jango Fett. Although both Jango and Boba use the same ship, the earlier version has a different paint job.
In terms of design and scale, it’s very similar to the set 75312 released in 2021. It features similar play features as well. These include a handle that can be extended from the base of the ship, allowing it to be ‘swooshed’ around. The ability to place two minifigures in the cockpit and a hidden compartment which can deploy seismic charges. This is done by pushing in section features in the base of the ship. It may not be as visually impactful as the UCS version, but it’s way more fun to interact with.
The mismatched colouring of the ship’s exterior is mostly achieved with elements. There are a few small stickers used mostly on the sloped bricks around the front edge of the ship. Unfortunately, the small sticker sheet in my box was crumpled, making the stickers a little tricky to apply.
The set includes three minifigures, and most likely to waylay any outrage, although young Boba is the same as the one featured in the UCS set, Jango is less detailed. His torso lacks print on the arms. It does still offer the option to swap Jango’s helmet for a hairpiece. The most surprising addition to the set is another Kaminoan minifigure. Following Taun We’s appearance in Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter set in 2022, we now have Lama Su, and it’s not merely a recoloured version of the 2022 minifigure. Lama Su includes a new headpiece, which adds a fin around the mech section. This minifigure will certainly make the set more desirable for those who like to collect Star Wars minifigures.
If I’m honest, I prefer this version of Jango’s Ship over the UCS version. Sure, the bigger set is more detailed and makes a great display piece, but this smaller version is fun to play with. A lot has been said about the pricing of the upcoming Star Wars sets, but I would say this fares slightly better. If compared to the similarly sized set from 2022, it has seen a bump in price. But it’s still much cheaper than the UCS set. Jango Fett’s Starship launches on August 1st and can be pre-ordered now.
