As part of last year’s LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary celebrations, Lucasfilm created an original animated series for Disney+. LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy took an unusual look at the well-known galaxy far, far away. After accidentally removing the cornerstone, the galaxy is rebuilt, but not as we knew it. The animated show featured unique versions of classic characters and iconic ships. The series has inspired a trio of LEGO sets, and with the second season heading to Disney+ later this year, a new “Rebuild the Galaxy” set will be released next month. Here’s an early preview of set 75414: The Force Burner Snowspeeder.

The concept of Rebuild the Galaxy is exactly as the name suggests: the Star Wars galaxy we all know is mixed up, resulting in some weird and wonderful creation. Previous sets have given us an ‘evil’ Millennium Falcon complete with Darth Jar Jar and a bounty-hunting C-3PO. Darth Vader was a good guy who never fell to the Dark Side, and Jedi Bob made a glorious return. The latest creation to come out of the rebuilt galaxy is a flame-licked Snowspeeder.
We’ve been treated to several versions of the classic Snowspeeder, but this one isn’t just the same again with a different paint job. The exterior of the Snowspeeder is larger than you’d expect, with the sloping sides and central cockpit. But it also features a large gap through which a companion speeder bike can be clipped. This allows the Greebling brothers to both sit inside the ship, back to back, as pilots would in a standard Snowspeeder. The stud shooter on the rear of the ship may seem awkwardly placed, but that’s exactly where the Snowspeeder’s tow cable would be located.
The highlight of the craft is not the ‘Pimp my Ride’ colours but the cockpit canopy. This great new element finishes off the set perfectly. The transparent yellow with the black frame colouring of the piece matches the style of the Snowspeeder and has major Blacktron vibes.
The detachable Speeder Bike sports a similar paint job to the Snowspeeder, which is jet black with flame decals. On both crafts, the flame designs are stickers. Although a few similarly coloured elements are also used to extend the flame theme. But the Flame Burner detachable craft isn’t the set’s only Speeder. The set also includes a STAP Speeder. Commonly used by Battle Droids, this STAP has a darker colour scheme to complement its rider, a mysterious new character.
The set includes three minifigures, all of whom are exclusive. Sig Greebling returns in a new outfit, which appears to be Jedi robes. He also wields an orange lightsaber. Darth Dev appears to have toned down the Dark Side vibes compared to his previous outing. This new version still includes a darker outfit, but the lack of a cape and one sleeveless arm makes his robotic and printed arm look much cooler. The third minifigure is a new character called Solitus. The character appears to be of the Duros species, but it’s unclear if he is a good or bad guy. His robe-like outfit looks great and is almost Jedi-like, but he’s also sporting a dark cape and cloak hood. Solitus has a unique type of lightsaber. Not only are they purple-bladed, they are also linked by a chain, making them almost ‘nunchuck’ lightersabers.
The Force Burner Snowspeeder is another fun set to come out of the Rebuild the Galaxy franchise. I’m surprised the second set of episodes has only given us one new playset. The garish design of the Snowspeeder is unlike anything we’ve had from the Star Wars sets, including other Rebuild the Galaxy sets. I quite like the minifigures; they aren’t based on iconic characters, but they offer something different, especially Solitus. It will be interesting to see how they and the jazzy Snowspeeder variant fit into the LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past. The set will be available next month, and the second season of Rebuild the Galaxy will be streaming on Disney+ from September 19th.
